Apple Creek store 1906

Back to school shopping is a familiar ritual for those of us with children. What would back to school shopping look like, say in 1906? Our picture this month gives us this glimpse of the inside of an Apple Creek store in the spring of 1906. Some of the items that we can see in this picture are Zest soap on the top shelf, Marshmallows, Smith Brothers cough drops, Keystone tobacco, Bread for sale, and Shinola shoe polish. The newspaper advertises the Applecreek (note one word) coral class concert to be held Saturday evening May 19th “06” under the direction of David E. King. “Come with your friends”. Special thanks to the heirs of Myron Martin for this amazing photo.
