Former Apple Creek Postmaster Norma Jean Knoble seems to be demonstrating the letter carrier’s creed (neither snow nor rain nor gloom of night stays these curriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds) in this late 1950’s picture taken on a snowy day in East Union Township. Looking closely at the sign on the fence post, we can narrow down a bit where it was taken in that it says “Apple Creek State Hospital farm, No hunting or trespassing”. After 2 mild winters in a row, one would imagine sooner or later we will have a return to a scene like this. Many thanks to Julie Yates for this wonderful photograph.
